Seniors are Back in the Office

A record 11.6 million seniors are back in the office. That's a 132% increase since 2024 according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. CareScout reports that this trend is attributed to many factors:
The population is aging with improved longevity. Many seniors continue to be productive and keep working because they enjoy it.
Artiifcial Intelligence (AI) has unexpectedly fueled demand for older workers. AI may be stealing entry-level jobs, but not those jobs that require decades of judgment.
58% of American senior think they will run out of money in retirement due to rising housing costs, healthcare costs, and general cost of living.
Even affluent seniors may not be able to afford senior care. The average assisted living facility in the US costs $6,200 per month and private nursing home rooms average $10,978 per month.
In the Southeast US, Virginia ranks tenth as the state most seniors would thrive. North Carolina ranked onl 35th while South Carolina did worse at 45th. Overall, New Hampshire ranked first while Mississippi ranked last.
