Sellers Getting Most of What They Ask for

The International Business Brokers Association conducted a survey in 4Q2024. They asked 382 business brokers what percentage of the asking price did sellers get as the final price. The survey found that in 4Q2024, sellers got between 93% to 102% of their asking price. Larger deal sizes (i.e., $1,000,000 or more) fared better than smaller deals (i.e., less than $1,000,000). The good news is that the trend for sellers getting what they asked for has improved. In each category, asking price as a percentage of final price improved over 4Q2023. See chart below. Deal sizes between $2,000,000 and $5,000,000 did best as they commanded more than their asking price.
