two-story supportive housing for seniors

On January 15, 2025, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD's) Office of Multifamily Housing Program awarded Webster Village (Sylva, NC) and Wesley Housing Development Corporation of Northern Virginia (Falls Church, VA) $10.3 million and $7.9 million, respectively, in Section 202 Supportive Housing grants. The awards will help facilitate 97 Project Rental Assistance Contracts to support the construction and operation of 155 new rent-assisted homes for low- and very low-income seniors aged 62 years or older. The awards also provide seniors with supportive services for their nutritional, transportation, educational, and health-related needs. "As rents continue to climb and as the number of unhoused older Americans grows, providing affordable and supportive housing for our nation's seniors is more important than ever," said Assistant Secretary for Housing and Federal Housing Commissioner Julia Gordon.

HUD awarded grants through its Service Coordinator in Multifamily Housing (SCMF) program. The grantees and amounts in NC, SC, and VA are:
