Cost of Care Rises in 2024

Genworth and CareScout published its 2024 Cost of Care survey. It conducted research in 383 cities across all fifty states in the United States. The data show the cost of care rose in 2024 over 2023 between 3% (home health aides) and 10% (homemaker services, assisted living). That trend continued in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Compared to all states, Virginia ranked 34th in Homemaker Services, 36th in Home Health Aide, and 16th in Assisted Living. Note that the higher the ranking number, the lower the cost of care. North Carolina ranked 42nd, 42nd, and 18th, respectively, in the same categories. South Carolina ranked 41st, 43rd, and 37th, respectively, in the same categories. See the chart below for more data.
